What were some of the survival strategies used by inhabitants of the Middle East & North Africa long, long ago? Studying many ancient cultures, I can understand fairly well how they were able to survive, despite the many hardships they may have faced. For example, inhabitants of Latin America, southeast Asia, the Pacific Islands, India, and parts of Africa usually had access to fruit, fungi, vegetables and an abundance of wildlife, shade from trees, and lots of water on a regular basis. I have recently moved to Egypt and an completely awestruck at the desert here. It is a beautiful place, but so imposing. I have a lot of respect for the ancient Arab people who inhabited deserts, and a lot of that respect comes from wondering exactly how they did it. It's difficult for me to find any info on how people who lived in regions like this got their water, grew their food, what they ate, and how they traveled. They had to have been very brave, venturing out into those sand dunes and not knowing if they'd ever find an oasis. By the way, I know that the early Egyptians settled along the Nile and used its delta as their farmland, and that the ancient Mesopotamians used various agricultural techniques like irrigation... but I'm mainly wondering about the nomadic bedouin, berber, arabs, tuareg etc.

When will Muslims give the Middle East, Turkey and North Africa back? Some Muslims claim Jewish and Christian history as Muslim history but there is no evidence for that. Sorry. You're right that Christians have not always been pacifists but for the first 4 centuries they were. Jesus was a peaceful teacher who started a peaceful religion, if some people failed to follow his teaching that is their fault not His. When was Islam peaceful? Muhammad beheaded 800 Jews in a day according to their own "holy" texts. Not that peaceful Pagans? The Irish were converted completely peacefully by St. Patrick and still celebrate that every year. I don't think they want to go back. After the Irish converted they sent monks (pacifists) out to the Germanic, Celtic, and Viking tribes and were able to convert all of them in a very short time historically speaking. Any good middle eastern and north african dance styles? I'm a male and I am fascinated with the culture of the middle east and north africa. Are there any good dance styles from that region that are somewhat masculine and that you could perform by yourself in a resturaunt or club? We all know of belly dancing and I read somewhere that many men in those regions (especially Turkey) still belly dance. The problem is my mom doesn't want me to be belly dancing so is there any style that is just as amazing and dazzling as belly dancing but performed by men. Why do liberals and Islamic apologists, always use the Crusades as an example of Christian agression? At the beginings of Islam, the entire Middle East was Christian. Islam conquered the Middle East, North Africa, Spain and most of the Byzantine Empire through war and subjugation and dhimmitude. It was only after their invasion of the Byzantine Empire that the Byzantine emperor pleaded with Pope Urban II for help. That is how the crusades came about. They were not unprovoked attacks on innocent Muslims, but a defensive reaction to centuries of Islamic aggression. This is real history that you can look up for yourself.
